The grocery store, gift shop, and restaurants close on September 25 so please plan accordingly. Visitors are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and book early. As with all campgrounds in the park, the Colter Bay RV Park is very popular and tends to fill up quickly. The RV Park is open from early-May to early-October. The RV Park includes 112 full hookup RV sites including sewer, water, and 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric outlets. The vast Colter Bay RV Park at Colter Bay Village is set amidst towering lodgepole pines just a short, picturesque stroll away from Jackson Lake. Set against the majestic backdrop of the Teton mountains, Colter Bay Village is a must-visit. Visitors can enjoy hiking, kayaking and canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, swimming and beach-going, and ranger-led programs. Colter Bay has an activity for everyone in the family. This lovely area is set on the shores of Jackson Lake, and offers practical amenities like laundry facilities, showers, restaurants and a grocery store, as well as purely-for-fun diversions like a marina, gift shop, visitor center, and horse corrals. (Snow King is only five blocks from the Town Square.) There’s no lodging or camping open in Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Park in the winter.Think of Colter Bay Village as summer camp for the entire family. Downtown to Teton Village is about a 30-minute drive or START Bus ride, while everything else is usually a short walk. If you want maximal amenities - shopping, restaurants, bars, art galleries - or plan to do your skiing at Snow King Mountain Resort, stay in downtown Jackson. If you plan to ski for several days and do other activities like snowmobiling to Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park, hot springing, fat biking, or sleigh riding in the National Elk Refuge, both downtown Jackson and Teton Village are convenient home bases. If you want to check out downtown Jackson, you can take a START Bus the 12 miles from Teton Village to Jackson. From here, you won’t have to drive to the slopes, or at all. If you’ll be skiing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort every day, Teton Village at the base of the resort will be the most convenient. The answer depends on the type of vacation you’ve got planned. You can’t go into these, but, on the bank of the Snake River, the former dude ranch makes a lovely picnic spot. Although added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, ranch buildings were left to molder until 2019, when, with the help of the local nonprofit, Grand Teton National Park Foundation, the park preserved a couple of the ranch’s main cabins. It is in Grand Teton National Park, a few miles north of its Moose entrance.
